Honeywell's CFO & Senior VP, Greg Lewis, visits

Mr. Lewis took a day out of his very busy schedule to share his career path and business insights with our class, which was very valuable. Mr. Lewis detailed his entire career, the beginning with his days at UConn through his rise up the corporate ladder to where he sits today, which was priceless.

It is easy to get lost in the idea that the odds are against you if you do not go to an Ivy League, but Mr. Lewis was adamant that with hard work, sacrifice, and the right intentions, UConn students can do anything they want to do.

Mr. Lewis was an honest speaker, and he was unafraid to share with the class the trials and tribulations of his career. He shared the mistakes he had made in his previous roles, and problems that he still faces. After sharing a story about a conflict in the office, Mr. Lewis told the class that from that trial, he learned to “go into a conflict with confidence and attack the idea, not the person.” He encouraged the class to be forgiving, but resilient in the face of conflict.

At the end of his presentation, Mr. Lewis left the class with an important life and career lesson. “In life and in work”, he noted, “sometimes you have to make a decision that will disappoint someone.”

“Choosing who to disappoint is crucial when it is inevitable,” he said.
